In recent years, Liam Neeson has punched one half of a Middle-Eastern crime family, identity thieves, a pack of wolves, and the other half of said Middle-Eastern crime family. Now he has to punch an endangered plane right out of the sky.

Plot holes, an underuse of brilliant supporting actors (not least new golden girl Lupita Nyong’o!), and some incredibly awkward social commentary do serve to clip Non-Stop’s wings.

But Liam Neeson is far too enjoyable a lead to make this anything less than 30,000 feet of fun.

A gripping concept and Liam Neeson’s fists of fury square off against plot holes and gauche criticisms of post-9/11 America. Non-Stop never soars but it’s a fun way to spend 106 minutes.

RATING: 3/5
