Anchorman 2 is definitely a sequel. It’s not just the “2” in the title that’ll tip you off but the stakes, the glut of cameos, and the sheer number of nods to Burgundy et al.‘s first outing.

This is rarely a problem considering Ferrell and McKay’s scattergun approach means there is always a good laugh in the chamber for when the last few didn’t hit.

It’s too long and caters near-exclusively to existing Anchorman fans, but that scarcely matters when so many of the smaller things – and a decent amount of the larger things – are this good.

More of the same but LOUDER AND BAGGIER.
