Shane Black is in his zone.

Creating a buddy comedy that boasts flawed characters with a wicked sense of humour is Black’s specialist subject. Whilst not quite hitting the heights of Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, this is outrageous fun.

The story shines thanks to Crowe and Gosling, who deliver their strongest performances in years; the chemistry is instant, real, and extremely watchable.

Furthermore, behind the dynamic duo of Crowe and Gosling, there stands the startlingly talented newcomer Angourie Rice. Bringing class and laughs, mark our words, this is not the last we’ve heard of her.

Gosling’s never been funnier, Crowe’s never suited a role better, and Angourie Rice is a revelation. Shane Black is back, and The Nice Guys is a goddamn riot.
