Facebook Twitter Pinterest WhatsApp EmailFunny, bittersweet, heartbreaking and beautiful, Masaan explores its colourful world and its inhabitants’ lives with utmost imagination and deftness. Wonderfully balancing the struggles and discoveries of its four different central characters, Masaan excels at showing its beautiful and fully-realised world through the outstanding cinematography of Avinash Arun Dhaware. Along with director Neeraj Ghaywan, Masaan is Dhaware’s first feature, and by this evidence both are definitely names to watch. Both intimate and epic, Masaan pulses with life which is exemplified by its rich, deep and brilliantly played characters. Life, death and the Ganges have never looked so good. Powerful and sweeping, Masaan is a vital and unforgettable watch. Only some slightly contrived plot elements hold it back from total greatness.
