Get ready for your new favourite fight scenes.

Baseball Boy. Hammer Girl. The hotplate. The mudbath bloodbath. And oh boy, if you thought Gravity was visceral cinema then the kitchen showdown is here to drive adrenaline into your heart and grab you by the balls.

The Raid 2 is slow to start and its plot can sometimes grow confusing, but the brutal fights inject ferocious energy at every turn.

Evans is hands-down the best action director working today and here he expands his range to more dramatic scenes. If there’s any justice he’ll be getting a Best Director nomination come the next Oscars.

An unfocused opening is more than redeemed by a pulsating, unflinching final hour. The best action film since The Raid, and there’s no higher compliment than that.
