Star Wars fans have long wished to see more of Darth Maul, one of the most exciting but short-lived villains in the series’ history. Darth Maul: Apprentice fulfils that promise and more.

Boasting a recreation of Maul’s iconic appearance down to the last detail, Ben Schamma masters the acrobatic fighting style that made Maul live so long in the memory, thanks to the guidance of choreographer Vi-Dan Tran.

Most impressively, this short isn’t just a slick montage of impressive battles and lightsaber VFX – though those things are present in abundance. Shawn Bu’s script adds subtle depths to Maul’s character that his brief appearance in The Phantom Menace never allowed.
