This is not your standard coming-of-age tale. Prospect tells the story of a young girl and her father hunting through an alien forest for a rare, valuable (and disgustingly slimy) substance. The outlaw feeling of the father and daughter’s hunting is nicely enhanced by the low-budget spacesuits, which look cobbled together and dangerously unsafe.

Although hampered by a somewhat slow start, the film ramps up the tension when a bandit comes onto the scene to kill the father and steal the bounty. It is this moment which sets in motion the daughter’s coming of age, and gives the film’s title its intriguing double meaning.
