To achieve this, simplicity and authenticity are at the short’s core. Cunningham’s approach allows the film to move from joy to silence without skipping a beat. The emotional whirlwind experienced in such a compact time is impressive, and tantamount to the idea’s quality.

Elegiac and touching, the short is a prime example of a good idea executed to perfection. Richard Linklater would be proud.
