Episode 1

It had been four long years since Dan and Christopher had stepped in front of the mike to deliver their film based insight/ramblings. However thanks to the support of our readers, the market was primed for the boys to make their long-awaited comeback. What a return it was! Starting with the double whammy of Some Film Old, Some Film New – The Wolf of Wall Street and The Aviator, they took a look at possibly the best film released in Denmark in the last decade with the Oscar nominated The Hunt.

Episode 2 

By the second episode, the world was struck by the deeply saddening news of the loss of Philip Seymour Hoffman. Our tribute leads the episode but there’s fascinating insight into the world of Jack Ryan looking at the classic 1990 thriller of The Hunt for Red October and the latest Kenneth Branagh version, Shadow Recruit. It’s not all doom and gloom though as Dan – poor fella – tries to summaries Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain; that alone is worth the ticket price (which is free by the way).

Episode 3

An easy contender for our collective family film of the year, The LEGO Movie entered our lives like a fireball of joy. However, we lead you in with a look at the directors (Miller and Lord) first animated flick, the endearing and crazy Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. All of this plus the announcement of Christopher’s challenge in the debut Challenge Chris/Challenge Dan!

Episode 4

Now, the boys were cooking with gas and the podcast was hitting in its stride. At first, we took a look at the 300 saga in the staple feature in Some Film Old, Some Film New. Not to give away too much but it is safe to say that this is the only arena in which Zack Snyder is credited as the better man… Later on, Liam Neeson stars in Some Film New: Reloaded, before Dan grills Christopher on both volumes of Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac in the very first Challenge Chris/Challenge Dan. The show finishes with a brief look at this year’s Oscars. With the benefit of hindsight, the guys were pretty spot-on.

Episode 5

After the briefest of hiatus, the boys returned with a bang with Captain America by their side. Reviewing the original Joe Johnston affair as well as the Russo brothers’ terrific second entry, they celebrate the surprisingly oft-overlooked Avengers. As well as this, Dan and Christopher begin The Grand Debate. A new feature where they tackle the big issues in cinema and where better place to start than with the ol’ 3D debacle.

Episode 6

We’ve always had a soft spot for Irish filmmakers, especially from the McDonagh clan and this episode was the pinnacle of our affections with our look at The Guard and Calvary. As well as this, the action film of the year – and potentially decade? – is analysed with a closer look at Gareth Evans’ The Raid 2. To finish our return from hiatus with a full bang, the boys analyses Sony/Marvel’s latest offering of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and  the effects of building cinematic universes. The show wraps up with an update on Challenge Dan.

Episode 7

Christopher Nolan the untouchable blockbuster giant, right? However, how well does his films stand up over time? Also, how well does his protegé, Wally Pfister, do on his first solo outing as director in Transcendence. We don’t need to tell you that the public and the critics hated it but were they wrong? You’ll have to tune in to find out. As an added bonus, we have eclectic and extensive coverage of this year’s Sundance London Film Festival, Dan finally secured and watched the first chapter of his Pokémon film challenge and the boys bid Bob Hoskins a fond farewell. Do. Not. Miss.

Episode 8

Our favourite animator has finally bid farewell to the world of cinema, and in this episode we celebrate and cherish his work with a look at the terrific The Wind Rises and the simply sublime Spirited Away in Some Film Old, Some Film New. Dan then delivers his latest Netpix while Christopher grapples with the original Godzilla instalment, 1954’s Gojira. All of this plus the announcement of the very special episode coming up next!

Episode 9

The first ever One Room With A View special! And what a special it was! To celebrate the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the ORWAV team assembled to provide their insight and laughter as the team dissect every film in the X-Men cannon. Fourteen years (and seven separate films) worth of mutant magnificence! Trawl back through the X-Men cinematic canon with your usual hosts as well as Olivia, Cameron, Calum and Sophie. In particular, keep your eyes out for Cameron’s disappointment in the latest entry as well as Sophie’s distaste for X-Men: First Class. You’d be a fool to miss out!

Episode 10

And lo, all good things come to and end – for now! The ORWAV show leaves with a bang as they take on the world of blockbusters both good and bad. Teaming up with Calum and the boss, David, Christopher & Dan go through the key fundamentals of the classics and the flops. They scour through the classics of Star Wars and Jaws as well as championing the fine work of Marvel. However, the magnifying glass soon falls upon the failings of those that failed to nail the key principles – in particular the godawful The Green Lantern.
