When December hits, cinemas are annually awash with gushy rom-coms and nauseating morality tales, but with 2015 comes a breath of fresh, yet ghoulish air with the decidedly creepy Krampus.

Combining chuckles and chills with aplomb, Krampus tells the story of a young boy losing faith in Christmas and subsequently summoning an age-old demon – you know how it is! What follows is a wholly unpredictable romp which culminates in a wonderfully bonkers third act.

Despite its belly laughs and scares, the film’s validity is provided through its fine cast and a dedication to instill a heart in a concept so wild.

Krampus is something of a kurious Khristmas treat – far from perfect but nevertheless an entertaining and off-kilter alternative to the usual seasonal fare.
