Deep within the ribcage of the West Coast, hibernating tectonic plates are about to brutally awaken from their slumber. Cities will fall, lives will be lost. California is stuck between The Rock and a hard place.

San Andreas, yet another rematch of destruction-porn between Man and Nature, wins a roguish likability on points. Things only really stumble by not fully embracing their own ludicrousness. Peyton skirts around the rim of campiness when he should be slam-dunking this blockbuster all the way through.

Expect an earnest wrestler scrapping with an earthquake. Get an earnest wrestler scrapping with an earthquake.

Watch with your eyes, not down your nose. San Andreas is a popcorn munching, soda-pop slurping feast of thrilling silliness.
