Fast & Furious 7 feels like it was written by a 13 year-old on a sugar bender, which is entirely a good thing.

James Wan directs glorious action sequences with the manic energy of a Saturday morning cartoon, and the cast is only too happy to go right along with him – especially newcomers Kurt Russell and Jason Statham, who steals the show as a cockney Terminator.

The plot’s riddled with holes, and it’s a shame Dwayne Johnson doesn’t get more to do, but it’s hard to care too much when we also get to see skydiving muscle cars.

A moving tribute to the late Paul Walker brings poignancy to this unashamedly entertaining popcorn flick. If this is the end of an era, it’s ended on a high note.
