Facebook Twitter Pinterest WhatsApp EmailDavid Wain’s They Came Together brings with it clear, absurd, and intensely welcome influences from his previous work on Children’s Hospital, which correspondingly drives a surprisingly rich deconstruction of the evidently formulaic nature that runs throughout mainstream romantic-comedies. As expected with a background such as Wain’s, jokes fly much in the same way as those found in the likes of Airplane! and the Naked Gun trilogy – all the time. Starring Amy Poehler as Molly, Paul Rudd as Joel, and New York as itself, They Came Together tells the story of how love was passionately discovered amidst a thousand tropes. While not every joke lands, They Came Together‘s comically decadent nature provides more than enough overall. RATING: 4/5 INFORMATION CAST: Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Cobie Smulders DIRECTOR: David Wain WRITER: David Wain SYNOPSIS: A couple in love recount the tale of their relationship’s uncanny likeness to the typical romantic comedy.
