The visuals are awe-inspiring, the acting superb; the confidence is formidable, the humour riotous and the production’s love for their project is infectious. The list of positives goes on and on and is achieved in just 121 minutes of pure joy.

This is not simply the king of 2014’s blockbusters; it’s the new benchmark for Marvel.

It’s hard to comprehend how well James Gunn has achieved the impossible. Irreverent, imaginative and innovative to its core, Guardians of the Galaxy is no pauper at the table of The Avengers. Gunn’s film has its own table and you’ll be begging for a seat.
